Tanks look cool. And the tanks ARE the key to victory in every serious military operation today. If you don't have tanks, you're not going to win any ground battles.

yeah but if ur enemy got chopper or new anti tank missile u most say good bay to ur tanks

Yeah, well, aircraft are tank's worst enemy, but the shock value against infantry can be pretty devastaing. Even with an anti-tank missile the soldier has to decide if he's actually going to fire at the tank and risk his own life, or if he's going to run like hell...

I actually have heard from a friend who's serving in Afgahnistan with the German bundeswehr, that the Merkava works mostly as an IFV because it can carry troops inside. Not much sure about it.

And btw... The Leopard 2A6 is far better than the Merkava :D Even better than the M1A2 Abrams...

i can only agree with you, especially concerning the fact that the Merkava has only a 105 mm gun an the Leopard 2 has a 120 mm gun. a friend of mine was serving in a tank unit here in Germany and one day the had a joint-venture with an american Abrams-unit. they made a maneuver to compare the tanks. first there was a Leopard in coverage and he had to 'eliminate' as many tanks as possible. he managed to 'eliminate' 17 Abrams before he got 'destroyed'. afterwards there was an Abrams in coveragewith the same task and he could only 'eliminate' 2 Leoprads before he got 'destroyed' :)
